			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I have a few friends that have started businesses, one a rug and home accessory, and another a furniture business, I have always wanted to own a small furniture and home accent business and have gone to the market in High Point NC and Atlanta Georgia.Buying from the manufacturer is not cheap and the mark up would have to be ridiculas.You also have to make major purchases to carry most lines of furniture. I would be more interested in discontinued or floor samples.They both are very successful and are hush hush about where they get their merchandise. but I do know that they get it dirt cheap and they travel to pick everything up.I am more interested in sofas. Can anyone give me some ideas where to start.<br />

Getting your message across is very important for a writer, but it could be very difficult if the publisher and the editors are breathing behind your neck. </p>

<p>Some writers who have no experience with self-publishing often think twice because of the cost. In traditional publishing, the publisher would shoulder the costs and the author would not have to worry about it. But with self-publishing, the author would to shoulder the expenses. Currently, a book can be produced with as much as $5000. </p>
<p>When self-publishing, you can be the author who is doing the hiring for editors, cover artists, publishers or printers and distributors. On the other hand there are self-publishing businesses or companies that are dedicated to produce or sell your book or CD. There are three main stages when self-publishing: </p>

<li>Creating, writing, editing and providing illustrations if needed.</li>
<li>Preparing the manuscript for printing.</li>

<p>Of course, the first process that needs to be completed will be completion of the book itself. It is true that with self-publishing, you can publish everything. The reason that most writers cannot get their works published is that they did not fit the standards of the publisher. But since you do not have to get any publisher&rsquo;s approval, then you can publish everything. You just have to be sure that what you have to publish is something really good. </p>
<p>To be an effective writer, you have to touch the heart of your audience. That means in the start of the writing process, you need to identify your target audience and write for them. Although, self-publishers are often not too concerned with the profits, it would still be worth it if you have a really good book on your hands. </p>
<p>If you have to go for a self-publishing company, then many of them will do the entire thing. Once you are done with your book and your manuscript, then you would have to just give it to the company and they would choose the publishing needs based on your requirements. Everything, of course, would be subject to your approval. </p>
<p>But the author needs to submit everything or things in order for the publisher. Once you have submitted the specifications, but later decide to change something, it can cost you additional fees. So you have to be sure that what you have submitted is the final manuscript.</p>
<p>Everything comes back to the author. Once the book is done, the author will have to approve the layout and design of what is inside and outside the book. This allows the author to have the final say and make the final decisions over the book. If it gets approved then the printing will start. Again, the printed copies will go back to the author for a nod of approval. When it is done, it would be distributed. </p>
<p>Self-publishing companies also include sometimes in their packages other kind of services. Sometimes self-publishing companies will take care of getting copyright for the book, ensure that it complies with international standards, create promotional materials, and look after other necessities that would give the self-published work an edge. </p>
<p>Self-publishing can sound very tiring, but if you want to be successful then it will require a lot of patience and hard work. But it may just be worth it in the end.</p>

<p>A situation that requires a solution can be approached in a variety of ways. There isn&rsquo;t a single way fix to a problem. Being creative opens new horizons and can deliver many benefits. Creativity can sometimes be mistakenly interpreted as an obstinate attitude. Some people think that insisting on doing things in a different way is a sign of stubbornness. </p>

<p>So how should you do it then? The following are tips and advice to help manage stress.</p>
<p><b>Write it out, schedule it out.</b></p>
<p>It is best to write down everything that seems to be overwhelming. You will find a things-to-do-list much easier to manage than having errands all crumpled up in your head. Writing down the tasks, and putting a specific schedule and time to do them, helps anyone manage activities one chunk at a time. Crossing out an activity that has already been accomplished is very rewarding and could actually help you feel more relaxed when doing the other tasks at hand.</p>
<p><b>One at a time works.</b></p>
<p>Focus and put all your attention specifically on one task at one time. It does not help to feel panicky about the other undone or to-do tasks. Thinking about them only adds unnecessary stress and could even hamper in doing the task you are attempting to accomplish at present. </p>
<p><b>Relax and take it slow.</b></p>
<p>At least, try not to expend too much energy on activities that are currently not priorities. This is in order for your energy to be not easily expended on the tasks that are not that important, at least for now.</p>
<p><b>Delegate, delegate, delegate.</b></p>
<p>You need not do everything all at once, and you need not do everything on your own. Ask for help, get help, or pay for help. When there is a feeling of being overwhelmed that is cropping up, hire someone to mow the lawn or get a sitter for your children. The feeling of being pressed to finish something on time will somehow be eliminated if tasks are delegated. It takes a load off unnecessary worry and anxiety. Moreover, it is easier checking up on how things are, than worrying yourself sick doing everything on your own, all at once.</p>
<p><b>Give yourself a reward.</b></p>
<p>You deserve it. Acknowledging your accomplishments, no matter how big or small, is an effort that is necessary before getting on to the next tasks and activities. It reduces stress and could even make you happier in doing the next task. </p>
<p><b>Give yourself a break.</b></p>
<p>You need it to be more productive. A ten to fifteen minute break during your work is necessary. Go visit a caf&eacute; nearby, take a quick brisk walk, or do anything to put your mind off work, at least for a while. This is necessary to refresh and recharge. Believe it or not, you can also stay in your work and sit with your eyes closed as you visualize a peaceful landscape or a relaxing scene. This frees the stress from your muscles and your mind. </p>
<p>Relax and be cool. Doing so makes you healthier, happier, and a lot more productive.</p>

A product marketing manager must always have the &#8220;4 P&#8217;s&#8221; in mind: Product, Pricing, Place and Promotion. </p>

<p>There are several common pitfalls to avoid when working as a marketing manager. First of all, never lose sight of the customer! Always keep in mind the titles, frustrations, goals and needs of your target markets. Get out into the field and do your research. Ask your best customers what they like best and what they&#8217;d like to see in the future. How did they feel about the corporate apparel at this year&#8217;s trade show? Would they have preferred imprinted pens or stress relievers? Did they like the new flavors added to your promotional food products this year? Or is there some unfulfilled need? This information is more valuable than short-sighted sales because it could lead to long-term profits and sustainability! </p>
<p>Secondly, migrate outside your comfort zone! As a marketing manager, you&#8217;re always wearing many hats and juggling multiple responsibilities. Try not to avoid one particular area because you feel less confident there; instead, work to overcome your weaknesses. For instance, if you dislike trade show giveaways, then don&#8217;t give that job to an intern. Rather, visit several trade shows as a sort of &#8220;spy,&#8221; taking notes on the best and worst promotional marketing products and strategies you see. Read articles about new marketing strategies or call a brainstorming meeting to help engage you in this area. </p>
<p>Another problem for the new product marketing manager is balancing responsibilities. There&#8217;s your immediate superior, the client, your target market and your promotional staff. It can be easy to lose sight of who you&#8217;re really working for. First and foremost, you have dedicated your life to the client. They are the ones paying you and entrusting you with their life&#8217;s work. Secondly, you should be working for yourself. Find ways to keep your energy and spirits up. Learn new things and don&#8217;t slack off in other areas of your life, like exercise and nutrition. If you&#8217;re unhappy, it will affect your work! </p>
<p>It&#8217;s the creativity that keeps many a product marketing manager functioning, so never lose sight of that. Planning exciting events and reinventing your branding concepts can be an extremely rewarding part of your job. It will take a lot of office work in the beginning as you search for the ideal advertising promotional products and promotion locations, but when you see the promotional rep/target market interaction and get the client&#8217;s positive feedback, all your efforts will be worthwhile. When you&#8217;re considering advertising specialties and cross-promotion, be aware that all networking channels will be open to you, so finding prominent partners may be an avenue that could increase business for the both of you.</p>

<p>You have a gold-mine if your team is doing particularly well. Other businesses and corporate sponsors know this. You need to connect with your audience and push them one little step further to consume. Sure, they&#8217;ll buy the baseball tickets and the footlong hotdog and the beer, but will they buy the NY Yankees hat or hooded sweatshirt? Will they buy the imprinted pens and the key tags? Perhaps you need to catch your fans slightly off guard by offering promotional items in a venue they wouldn&#8217;t expect. The Memphis Grizzlies saw an increase of $30,000 in sales following just one round of phone calls! </p>
